What sets us apart?
Our mission is to make climbing in Wyoming safer, more environmentally sustainable, and more socially impactful. Our aim is not simply to capitalize on the growing popularity of climbing in Wyoming, but to provide much needed instruction for a growing number of climbers visiting our state’s more popular climbing areas. We help keep people safe, set an example of stewardship, and help preserve Wyoming’s world class climbing resources through direct cooperation with land managers. We also work to make climbing more beneficial to the local community and help locals get exposed to climbing through our youth and community climbing programs.
Why climb with us?
We guide a wide variety of custom climbing trips on rock, ice, and alpine objectives in addition to our youth and community programs. We also teach specialized courses on safety systems, climbing techniques, and climbing movement. In addition we offer hands-on, place-based lessons on each of these climbing areas’ unique geology, ecology, archaeology, and history. Our guides are professional climbing instructors, well-trained teachers, as well as accomplished local climbers who know the areas they guide extremely well.
Climbing courses, clinics, and custom outings
Want to take your family climbing for the first time? Push your skills to the next level? Summit that secluded Wyoming peak? Whatever your aspirations and budget, we will customize an adventure just for you.
Youth & community programs
Many people in Wyoming never get the chance to experience the spectacular climbing in their own backyard. Our goal is to change that and give more local community members the chance to explore the vertical wonders of Wyoming.
Youth Climbing Camps
For Youth Ages 10-18
Every summer we offer educational climbing camps for youth ages 10-18 across Wyoming. Students will learn the fundamentals of climbing safety, movement and technique as they climb in the limestone canyons of the Bighorn Mountains and the Sherman granite monoliths of Vedauwoo.
Community Climbing Clinics
We offer low-cost instructional clinics to help locals to gain the technical skills they need to start climbing. Both rock and ice climbing clinics will be offered on a seasonal basis. Our hope is that these clinics will help make climbing in the area more accessible and more inclusive.
"Wyoming Mountain Guides provided my wife and I the objectively most valuable climbing experience we have ever had with their Trad Climbing Course. We learned a plethora of useful climbing techniques for finger cracks to off-width, how to diagnose the structural integrity of gear placements, how to build safe gear and bolted anchors, how to rappel with a guide belay devices, and, most importantly, we became one with the enlightenment of slotting the perfect, snug hand jam for the first time."
Professional and personable guides
"I took an Intro to Rock Climbing Course with my guide Zayne... Zayne is super nice and encouraging. He is also a great communicator which made me feel comfortable and confident when working with rope systems. He also answered all the 80 million questions I asked and gave me a bunch of demos of knots, ground anchors, etc. I definitely came away with applicable knowledge to the sport and I plan on using their services again to advance in my climbing."
I went through WMG for an intro to ice climbing course with a group of friends. We are rock climbers on a budget and Zach was willing to work with us to do one day instead of two at an excellent price. Our goals of learning technique, systems, and safety were well-achieved and our guides were super helpful talking us up the routes, and were great in recognizing the knowledge and skills we had from rock climbing and helping us build off that. Discounts are offered for return clients and overall it was a hell of a deal for a quality time.
